What kind of agencies are there and what is the difference between them:

• Agencies who also have a 'real' (physical) office, with real human beings who give support and help their customers using email, phone fax or during personal visits. But they use internet to promote their services.

• Agencies who only have a website, but not a 'real' office (only one or more computers), they use individual (oversea) contact persons to interact with the female customers and maintain a database with information about these female members.

• Agencies or mail orders who only use databases that are offered from other bigger websites, but use their own website skin or layout. These 'others' can be a large network of agencies or just one single person somewhere in Russia or other CIS country who has contact with women who are looking for a partner abroad. An example of such a network is the 'Angelika network"

• And there are 'agencies' who only have a website or domain name and uses a 'shared' database from a large network. These 'agencies' only work on commission base, this is called an affiliate or partner program. Therefore it is possible that you sometimes see the same women-personals on different kind of websites. This is not 'scam' but just a way of doing website affiliate business. We also use affiliate programs in our website to keep our website 'alive', just because we have no product or service of our own we can sell. But we are not part of only one network, as we already told you, we only use our four high quality agencies that we know already for about six years.

We prefer agencies who have real personal contact with their female customers and if necessary with you.  It certainly doesn't say that we don't trust the other 'agencies', it's only less 'personal', if you know what I mean. We also advise you to look at the address information of a website you think you want to do business with them. Many websites don't have any contact information, like a real postal address, or a name or names of the owner or employees who are working there. They even have sometimes only an online inquiry form and are not showing a real email-address. If you see an agency like that, then just skip it. Real contact information of a website/agency is one of the most important thing to identify themselves and give you a feeling of 'trust'.

About Matchmakers

You will find many matchmakers during your search for your Russian lady.
Matchmakers are quite different from Marriage or Dating agencies, Mail order brides or equivalents. The main difference is that dating agencies are selling services to you and they offer women's personals (contact information) from their database, which of course, you have to buy. Matchmaker sites are sites where women and men put their ad (profile and photos) and using specific (online) queries you can select women that fits best with your entered requirements or parameters. The women can do the same, so it will narrow your search for your second half.

In general there are two types of matchmaker services/agencies:

The ones where you can add your ad for free or a small fee (women are mostly free) and there are agencies (the good ones have real professionals who will do that for you) who will do all the work for you, but these services are mostly called 'individual or personal search'

But let me continue to the so-called (free) matchmaking websites;

Another difference is, that marriage/dating agencies know their (female and male) customers, this is different with MM-sites. Everybody can be a member and there is nobody who is 'verifying' the members.

When you put your profile at a free MM-site, any person can contact you too. The initial contact can be both ways, it depends who is first. If you want, you can just put your ad and wait. You also can take the initiative by browsing (using a search or matchmaking form) through these sites and start contacting your favorite women.

This way of finding contact has advantages but also disadvantages. Like I said, everyone can sign in at a MM-site, nobody knows who is really 'behind' a person. With most agencies this is different, they (the better ones) know their customers in person and know that their (female) customers are really serious to find a new partner abroad and often they perform serious background checks too. At MM-sites you can find any person for any kind of contact. Unfortunately these sites are hotbeds for scammers too. And it is you who has to find out if the person behind the 'photo' is real or fake (and this counts for the women too), nobody can help you with that, because there are no human beings who are verifying the members. Like I said, it's much cheaper then buying services at some agency, but the risk to meet a 'scammer' is much higher. Again, the choice is yours.

Our last advise, related to this topic is;

Before you decide to purchase a service at some online agency, just try to find out what kind of company is behind the website. Try to read more about the people who are working there, by reading for example their 'About Us' or 'Who are we' page. Or send them an email and ask questions about them, just to be sure that they are real people who are operating that agency and not just some artificial computer program.  It's always good to know with whom you are dealing with. Real agencies should publish their (postal) address and other official contact information. Check their original location, or the administration information of the website domain owner and contact info (using the www.whois.net service). If you can't find these information because this information is hided for public, then just skip that specific website, probably they have a reason to keep themselves anonymous.
